Let’s Get to Know One Another!
It all started when…
From the very beginning it was clear that music and movement would be an important part of my life! There is video evidence of me at 3 years old singing movie musicals and doing cartwheels in costume! Music has always moved me and effected me to my very core.
I grew up singing in a professional children’s choir, taking piano lessons, voice lessons, I was a competitive gymnast and took jazz and tap. I never dreamed of becoming a professional performer… but as time went on, it became evident that I had to try!
THEN EVERYTHING CHANGED!
I attended Otterbein University and it forever changed my life. My junior year, my friend and I decided that we REALLY loved dancing and musical theatre and thought we seemed just as skilled as some of the MT students. We decided to head to New York City for Spring Break and see if we could audition for something! My mom found the audition, we showed up and a week later I was getting a phone call that I had booked the International Broadway Asia Tour of 42nd Street that was to go to China and South Korea that summer.
…..
So, at 21 years old I handed in my paperwork to leave college and I flew to Longgang, China where I did not know ANYONE and couldn’t even find it on a map. It was the most terrifying, but greatest decision of my life! We toured for 9 months and then I returned to Ohio to finish my degree in Music (Voice) and Dance and then promptly moved to NYC.
Off to Nyc!!
NYC brought all of the reality of the ups and downs of auditioning… But in 2010 I booked the National/International tour of “In The Mood: A 1940s Musical Revue” I toured with In The Mood for 3.5 years!! I was the Dance Captain, only female dancer and one of three females vocalists. It was a dream show. We performed in every State of the Continental U.S., along with Canada, Australia and New Zealand!
Returning to NYC I had many wonderful experiences and worked with some truly amazing people and performed in incredible venues like the Jacqueline Kennedy Theater in NYC, the Battery Dance Festival, and Jacob’s Pillow!
My final touring experience came with How The Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical! as Scallops Who. I got to unleash my inner child ‘Who’ and bring Christmas joy two holiday seasons in a row! This show was an eye opener for lowering inhibitions and exploring new vocalizations!
The Return To Cleveland
Since moving back to Cleveland I have been trying all sorts of new ventures! I have been a music and dance teacher in a charter school, I’ve worked the front desk at a dance studio and also been a dance studio instructor. I feel so at home with teaching, I love to be a positive role model and cheerleader for my students! Sharing the joy music brings me is the greatest gift I can give.
